Marietta Pisano was born in Ortona, Italy, EU, in 1993. She received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in bioengineering from the University of Ancona and University of Genova respectively, Italy, in 2015 and 2017, respectively.  She received a Ph.D. degree in bioengineering and robotics at the University of Genova, in 2021.  Her research activity fits into the field of neuroengineering. Her main research focus is to modulate the electrophysiological activity using acoustic stimulation mediated by nanomaterials. She also investigated the effects of ultrasound on mechanosensitive components of the cells. Simultaneously, she developed her abilities in the development of ultrasound-based drug delivery methods. She is currently a University of Genoa fellow working on the ORGANOI3D project. Specifically, she is involved in the management of neuronal cell cultures, from development through electrophysiological data characterization.

Principal topics of interest: techniques of neuromodulation and device development in the field of brain-on-a-chip
